- techmail Sorutions Limited The Global Positioning System (GPS) is now widely used in many land, sea, and air based navigation applications. One of its biggest disadvantages is that the accuracy of a standard GPS system is around 100 meters (95% of the time) and this prevents the effective use of a standard GPS in vehicle navigation applications. Differential GPS (dGPS) system are used to improve the accuracy obtainable from a standard unit. This paper presents the results of a study carried out to assess the performance of marine Radio Beacon dGPS systems in London.
